ECCLPs Executive Director Kelley Lê invited community organizations throughout California to attend a meeting to learn more about ECCLPs, future initiatives, and to consider partnership opportunities to help inform PK-12 climate and environmental literacy, justice, and action efforts alongside the UC and CSU systems.

Meeting Goals

  • Build excitement and understanding of what ECCLPs is and what the initiatives intend to accomplish.

  • If attending a regional meeting, create critical relationships between ECCLPs, campus faculty and staff, and other community-based partners in related fields for both in-reach and outreach opportunities (e.g. community organizations connected to regional science faculty and the California Subject Matter Projects staff) to advance and inform the initiatives.

  • Share ideas about how community-based partners can benefit from ECCLPs to strengthen PK-12 district partnerships, university collaborations for grant opportunities, and help to inform meaningful next steps.

Opportunities Shared About

Determine meaningful ways an organization might partner with and benefit from the ECCLPs Climate and Environmental Justice Literacy Initiatives in this first phase of development. Opportunities include but are not limited to:

  • Individuals can apply for an ECCLPs committee lead position to lead the community-based partner committee focused on community organizations and partnerships to inform PK-12 climate and environmental literacy and support the executive director.

  • Individuals can apply for committee membership to contribute to the community-based partner committee focused on research, evaluation, or professional learning through the rich lens of informal/non-formal experiences.

  • Connect with various networks to the initiatives to strengthen and align PK–12 climate and environmental literacy, justice, and action efforts across California.

  • Join a statewide initiative that will help map the landscape to support the connection of faculty, staff, and community partners over outreach and grant opportunities with local school districts involved with ECCLPs.

Meeting Audience

  • Community-based partners involved in PK–12 environmental and climate change programming (those with a background on environmental justice, equity, and indigenous knowledge are highly encouraged to engage).

  • Climate and environmental program managers, community researchers, and research staff.

  • Organization development individuals to connect over grant opportunities with UC and/or CSU partners.

  • Those who are excited and have capacity to participate in the initiatives that may have other backgrounds and expertise.
