Dear ECCLPs Supporter ,

ECCLPs is dedicated to supporting teacher preparation programs across the UC and CSU systems to provide coherence and collaboration around PK-12 climate and environmental literacy. We are eager to continue fostering partnerships to further this commitment and we thank the deans and directors who have already made plans to connect over these important efforts! We invite teacher preparation program leaders to connect with us who are thinking about supporting pre- and in-service teachers in these areas around research-driven and standards-aligned approaches. Let's join forces and move forward together through this statewide initiative!

UCI MAT and Credential Program Supervisors

A special thank you to the UCI MAT and Credential Program for their partnership and collaboration! Together we unpacked the Teacher Performance Expectations (TPE's) through guided discourse, reflective questioning strategies, and by applying new ECCLPs Framework Tools that emerged from hundreds of inputs across every subject matter area to identify key areas of focus and components to shift paradigms. We look forward to sharing more connection points across the UC and CSU campuses throughout the year! ECCLPs Executive Director, Kelley Lê , also had the opportunity to present at the UC Global Climate Leadership Council where several ECCLPs steering committee and task force leaders shared about their own incredible efforts. For context , the Global Climate Leadership Council (established in 2014) serves as a vital advisory body for the UC system, offering guidance on its ambitious climate objectives and strategies for integrating sustainability goals into the university's teaching, research, and public service mission. We thank the leaders who continue to connect across our state to provide solutions that scale, and for the opportunity to shine a light on ECCLPs' PK-12 efforts alongside higher education and community partners!

Annual Forum Symposium Event!

Our event will feature esteemed speakers such as Okhee Lee (award-winning education scholar) and a variety of poster sessions hosted by presenters in the climate change education field, including Brittany Jefferson (lead teacher at Citizens of the World Los Angeles and ECCLPs Statewide Teacher Workgroup Leader )!


Additionally, we will be hosting a variety of affinity spaces to network, create relationships, and have opportunities to provide input for our statewide initiatives. If you're a pre-service teacher , you're invited to join Naehee Kwun (Teacher Network Facilitator from the UC Irvine CalTeach Science & Math Program and ECCLPs PK-12 Teaching & Learning Committee Lead ) to discuss innovative teaching approaches and effective advocacy strategies to connect with others across the state!

A gift to this UC–CSU initiative is an investment in the partnerships and strategies that will educate and activate all of California’s high school graduates to be literate in climate and environmental justice issues and solutions. Both UC Irvine School of Education and CSU Dominguez Hills campuses serve as initial hubs for the ECCLPs initiative to address regional needs.
